What To Expect

When does service start?

Our church service starts at 10 am each Sunday. Each service is about an hour and a half long. On your first visit, please complete Side 1 of a ConneXions card and bring it to the Info Center in the Atrium after service so that we can welcome you with a gift.

What is Living Word’s history?

Living Word International Christian Church was founded in 1983, rooted in the belief that Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, is our only hope for Salvation.  The church was formally incorporated on October 30, 1985, in Montgomery County, Maryland, as a non-denominational, Christ-loving church.

Today, Living Word continues to flourish as a multicultural, non-denominational church comprised of men, women, and children from many countries. Our constant heart cry is, and always will be, that the Lord will continue to fill this House with His presence, as we live in the overflow of God’s amazing grace.  We give thanks for our history and look forward to our destiny, knowing all things work together for our good, and ultimately, God’s glory. Living Word always seeks to "Connect…Engage…and Grow!"  This is LIVING!

How do I get involved?

There are several ways for you to get involved at Living Word!  Whether you love serving people, working with children, cooking for the homeless, evangelizing or being in a small group, we have a place for you. Check out the information on our ministries and complete the form on our Contact Us page to let us know your area of interest.

How do I find out what's happening at church?

Please check for our events, life groups and ministries under the "Get Connected" tab above.

The ConneXions Team is here to make you feel at home. You will meet them at the door as you come in and they will direct you to the worship center. Feel free to ask them questions about Living Word International Christian Church. They will give you a ConneXions card to provide your contact info – this is a way for us to stay connected with you. No, we won’t hassle you; just want to say thank you for coming!

As someone new to the church, are there expectations of me?

We believe from Scripture that everyone is welcome. There are no expectations. So…come as you are.

Who is teaching my children?

Our LWKids Team consists of trustworthy, trained volunteers. LWKids program is Bible-based and super fun. Each Sunday, kids enter this fun, safe environment where they learn about Jesus in a creative, dynamic worship setting designed to create a hunger to know Jesus. Our goal is that Sunday at church will be one of the BEST experiences of your child’s week!

Joshua 1:9 - “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

J1:9 is our student ministry for 6th–12th graders. Our mid-week regular service takes place on Wednesday nights from 6:30–8:30. Each week students connect with others and participate in worship, teaching, games, and activities. Our vision is: To Encourage, Equip and to Empower the Next Generation through the Word of God; to be Strong and Courageous in their Faith, their Family, and their Community. Nations and generations is a foundational principal at Living Word, therefore, we encourage you to join us on Sundays for Family services, where Middle and High Schoolers worship and hear the Word together with their families.

Who are the Leaders of the church?

Leadership at LWICC is made up of pastoral staff and an elected Board of Trustees. These faithful and anointed leaders work closely together to fulfill the mission of Living Word.

What is the church’s inclement weather policy?

During the winter months, not only during heavy snow, but also icy conditions or a power failure can cause a church closing or delayed opening. If weather conditions seem questionable, call the church at 301-989-HOPE. When you hear the recording, press 4. You also may check the home page of our website: or watch the local news stations for updates. Members of our church may also receive a text or voice message.

“I visited the church on Sunday with my family. The moment I stepped into the front doors of the building, I was greeted by two women, and they made me feel at home. I was very nervous to be back in church, and my desire was to find a new home and I did. The moment the worship started I felt the presence. I was happy and I am so eager to come again on Sunday. The preaching hit home and ministered my life greatly. I took my portion of blessing home, and I was happy to know now I have a church where I can go”
Canilleca Grizela
“It's the place to be and feels like home.”
Lina Dunn
"Youth group is where I got to know Christ for myself, where I first encountered the Holy Spirit, where I learned to worship loudly and without shame. It's where I felt safe, and most of all, it’s where I made bonds and lasting relationships that I’m forever thankful for."
